Takeo Onsen in Saga boasts a history of 1300 years.
The spring water is mildly alkaline, known for its excellent heat retention and skin-moisturizing properties, earning it the nickname “Beauty Bath.”
However, photography is not allowed inside the bathhouse.
So, you’ll have to settle for taking pictures outside.
This is the famous Romon Gate of Takeo Onsen, which also serves as its entrance
The gate was designed by Tatsuno Kingo (the architect of Tokyo Station) and completed in 1915
Its appearance resembles Ryugu Castle and has been designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
Takeo Onsen Shinkan, another National Important Cultural Property.
Despite its name, the Shinkan was built during the Taisho period and was renovated in 2003.
However, we didn’t bathe here.
Instead, we bathed next door.
Since it was a visit, the bath was free for us.
For regular visitors, there is a fee.
The price varies depending on the bath.
This free ticket was provided by a local, so it can only be used for the Motoyu and Horaiyu baths.
This is the ticket vending machine.
Regular visitors need to purchase a bathing ticket first, which costs ¥450 for adults.
Before entering, ask the staff about the different types of hot springs available.
You can also check the details on the official website
We eventually chose the Motoyu bath…
This is the entrance.
Due to the high humidity and the number of people inside, photography is not allowed, so you’ll have to imagine it yourself~
