The Akame 48 Falls (Japanese: 赤目四十八滝) is a suburban attraction located in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. It is a well-known mountain hiking spot and a popular destination for sightseeing. You can reach it by taking the Kintetsu train to Akame Station and then walking 6 kilometers… Of course, if you prefer, there is also a Mie Kotsu bus that takes about 10 minutes to get there… However, the bus schedule is limited, with only 5 trips per day on weekdays and 9 trips per day on weekends and holidays. The fare is ￥340. If you are staying at the nearby hotel, Taisenkaku, they can provide shuttle service for you.
After sending our luggage to the hotel, we were led on a tour by a lovely intern here.

I forgot the name of this shrine, but I remember it has something to do with Acala.
This shrine has a somewhat old feel to it.
The ema at this shrine are made of red-eyed cattle… According to legend, when “En no Ozunu” was practicing in this area, he encountered Acala riding a red-eyed cow~ Therefore, this place is named Akame…
This is also a great place to enjoy the autumn foliage~
Further inside is the Ninja Training Village, which opened in 2010 and is mainly designed for children to experience ninja training… (Of course, this is for recreational purposes).
Next is the Ninja Training Village. Due to the typhoon that hit Mie Prefecture in early September, some facilities were damaged and are currently undergoing repairs. This is the practice area for shuriken (throwing stars).
This is to practice the skill of bypassing internet censorship, right~

This is a revolving door… but the gap is so big~ You can tell there’s a mechanism just by looking at it… XD
When all the training is completed, you will be given a certificate~
Continuing on to the waterfall area, along the way you can see the statue of this salamander.
Because Chikume is one of the few places in Japan where salamander are produced, there is also a small museum here where you can visit many salamander.
It looks like a stone~ It often stays there without moving at all.
This is a Mexican breed of salamander, which is very cute, especially with the red “antennae” on its head…
After visiting the salamander, continue walking upwards to reach the waterfall group~ However, due to limited time, it’s enough to just take a quick look at a few of them…
Actually, the Akame 48 Falls does not actually have 48 waterfalls. The number 48 is just used for a more pleasing sound.

Transportation: Take the Mie Kotsu bus from Akame-guchi towards “Akame Falls” and get off at “Akame Falls”. The fare is 370 yen and the journey takes about 10 minutes.
