Nonky Land is a cheese-themed tourist factory where you can observe the cheese-making process. They also sell an exclusive “Camembert Cheese Ice Cream” that you can’t find anywhere else!
Taiyo no Oka Engaru Park boasts Japan’s largest cosmos garden. I came here to see the shibazakura and autumn leaves.
Planning to grab some ice cream before heading out.
Since it’s not peak season yet and July hasn’t arrived, the cheese factory is quite empty.
Insert money into the ticket machine, then hand the meal ticket to the staff.
The staff is preparing the ice cream.
Cheese-flavored ice cream ¥300
This is their signature flavor. Maybe I’ve been to Japan too many times and tried too many ice creams, or perhaps I’m just not excited about ice cream anymore.
So, I can only say it “meets expectations.” If you like trying new things, give it a shot.
Milk flavor ¥250
I think it’s worth a try if you’re passing by. It’s not a “must-eat.”
Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park
The first time I came to Japan was over a decade ago with a tour group, and it was to Hokkaido.
Visiting Hokkaido in August to see lavender and shibazakura—what a strange idea…
I didn’t see any shibazakura back then,
so I thought I’d try my luck this time, but it was the same story.
However, I was lazier this time, I didn’t even turn off the car engine, just took some photos and left.
The torii gate is still pink.
This time, I couldn’t even see the cow pattern clearly.
I originally planned to go to Taiyo no Oka Engaru Park, known for its shibazakura and cosmos.
But the GPS only led me to the roadside and said I had arrived.
It just looked like an ordinary small hill.
It was still a bit far from the official Taiyo no Oka.
But seeing some shibazakura on the way is better than reaching the destination and finding none.
On the day I visited, there were still a few shibazakura.
and some autumn leaves…
These two maple trees are always in a state of red leaves.
Like Goku and Vegeta, they have to maintain their Super Saiyan form all the time XD
Looking closely at the shibazakura, I couldn’t find any with four petals.
White shibazakura.
Tired of looking at the shibazakura on the ground? Check out the red leaves above.
That’s the situation on June 11, 2016, at Nonky Land, Shibazakura Park, and on the way to Taiyo no Oka Engaru Park.
So, if I plan to visit next year, I’ll come earlier.
