【Tokushima Prefecture】Recreating World Famous Paintings – Otsuka Museum of Art

Because Yonezu Kenshi performed at the “Otsuka Museum of Art” during the 2018 Kōhaku Uta Gassen on December 31, the Otsuka International Art Museum has become popular again. The Otsuka Museum of Art is an art museum established by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It mainly exhibits famous ceramic paintings from around the world and has the largest permanent exhibition space in Japan. Therefore, for those who cannot personally visit the Louvre or the British Museum, they can visit here to see approximately 1000 famous paintings and ancient murals from around the world!

Because we asked the staff at the Naruto City Tourist Information Center to help guide us, we didn’t enter from the main entrance but from the parking lot. Therefore, we bypassed the main gate directly. XD The reproduction of the Sistine Chapel is very impressive. Kenshi Yonezu performed here.

The reproduction of the Sistine Chapel is very spectacular, Yonezu Kenshi sang here.

And it also imitates the feeling of European and American churches, setting up many chairs for us to sit here and savor.

This is an amazing mural between the secret rituals. Seeing it in person, it feels incredibly real. I couldn’t even tell it was a replica. I thought it had been transported directly from Europe.

This has more of a church feel. This is the Scrovegni Chapel in Italy.

Good and evil, on the right is the devil, on the left is an angel.

Devil

Angels

What is this? A snake coming out from a turban?

The ceramic paintings here are mostly unseen.

The visiting space here is quite spacious, similar to the feeling of the Louvre.

This painting is very strange! In the top left corner, there is a saw man, sawing a person in half. In the bottom left corner, there is a person cooking, boiling two people. In the top right corner, there is a nail man, hammering nails into people’s heads. In the bottom right corner, there are people with multiple scars. However, in the middle, there is a nun holding a child, with a halo above their heads. It should be an important figure.

These few famous paintings should ring a bell, especially the one in the bottom right corner, which is exhibited at the Louvre.

The title of this painting is “Spring” and it is another famous work by Botticelli, the same artist who created “The Birth of Venus”.

I didn’t see the Last Supper at the Louvre XD

Mona Lisa… You can take your time to admire her here. There’s absolutely no crowd.

Finally, let’s go up to the second floor and take a look at the Sistine Chapel. The view from the second floor feels quite different.

Above is a brief introduction to the Otsuka Museum of Art. As the museum spans from B3 to 2F, it takes about five to six hours to fully explore. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to fully appreciate it. If you are interested in the Otsuka Museum of Art, it’s worth finding an opportunity to visit.
