The Japanese movie “Poppoya” is quite an old film.
I only remember the actors Ken Takakura, Ryoko Hirosue, and Ken Shimura.
Then there’s Ken Takakura, working on the snow-covered platform, eventually lying down on the platform buried in snow. The storyline is quite touching.
This time, I visited Ikutora Station, which is the main setting “Horomai Station” in the movie.

Looking at the station from the front, I was surprised to see “Horomai Station” written above the entrance.

There is also half a train car placed beside it.

Let’s go inside the station and take a look.

There are quite a few tourists here.

Some of the props used during the filming have been moved into the station for storage.

This scene looks quite familiar, but I remember it being less crowded in the movie.

Signatures.

Fake fare table.

I can’t tell if this timetable is real or fake.

The clothes worn by the actors during the filming.

Let’s check out the platform.
I happened to see some local students getting ready to take the train home after school.

The trains are still running.

Do you remember the photos inside the station?
This is the station staff of Ikutora Station, probably a real-life railway worker?
As it was time to clock out, he closed the train used for visitors and prepared to ride his bicycle home.

Finally, here’s another shot, which is also one of the movie scenes.

That’s it for the scenes from the Japanese movie “Poppoya” at Ikutora Station (Horomai Station).
