The Sapporo Snow Festival has three venues: Odori, Susukino, and TSUDOME.
Among them, TSUDOME is best visited during the day, Susukino is ideal for the evening,
and Odori Park is perfect for both day and night visits.
After enjoying some Genghis Khan, we headed to Odori Park to see the snow festival~
However, the lights at the festival only stay on until 10 PM, so make sure to manage your time well.
With only 20 minutes, it’s actually impossible to walk through the entire Odori Park.
If you just walk, it’s enough, but if you want to take photos, it’s not.
As the festival was about to end, the vendors had very few customers left.
Hakodate’s Squid Alien.
Hirosaki’s Takamaru-kun.
Ski Jump.
It was only -2°C in Sapporo at night, but I found the weather quite refreshing.
Of course, you need to dress warmly.
If it weren’t for the “au” sign, I would have thought it was the Hokage from Konoha Village.
Turns out, it’s the AU ad featuring Urashima Taro, Momotaro, and Kintaro.
Attack on Titan.
Taiwan Pavilion.
In 2016, it featured the Pingxi Sky Lantern and the Queen’s Head from Yehliu.
LoveLive ! School Idol Project.
Each character was intricately carved, but I couldn’t capture them well in photos.
Macau’s Ruins of St. Paul’s.
But it felt a bit different.
Hokkaido Shinkansen.
Shortly after 10 PM, the lights went out, and there was nothing more to see.
I came back the next morning to take another look.
One of the event sites.
Taiwan Pavilion during the day.
There were posters nearby, including one of Alishan~
The vendors did good business during the day.
Bilibili Girls.
LoveLive! School Idol Project during the day.
Ruins of St. Paul’s during the day.
Nippon Professional Baseball – Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Hokkaido Shinkansen.
GeGeGe no Kitaro and Medama-Oyaji.
Snoopy, though it was a bit hard to recognize.
Ultraman.
Kids’ Slide.
Streetcar.
Monsters, Inc.?
Blogger Hiro informed me this is: Macross.
I haven’t seen this anime~
Snoopy and Charlie Brown, I think this version of Snoopy is more classic.
Snow Slide.
Dragon Ball Super~
This year’s Dragon Ball was quite good.
Vegeta and Beerus.
The snow is so thick here.
Towards the end, there were some smaller snow sculptures.
Dr. Slump and Poop.
Darth Vader.
C3PO、R2D2、BB8.
Minions?
Totoro Bus.
R2D2.
Minions.
Yo-kai Watch.
Funassyi.
This is what I saw at the snow festival in February 2016.
There are three venues for the snow festival, but I only visited the Odori venue. I didn’t go to the other two.
At the Odori venue, some stages have performances, but I didn’t watch them, so I’m not sure what special activities there were.
I came purely to see the snow sculptures.
