Nara desserts may not be as abundant or famous as those in Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe, but they definitely have a place on the food map for tourists. One must-try dessert is the Daibutsu-Purin.
I came to the No. 2 branch of this shop, and there is also a scary Sentokun small figurine standing at the entrance.
Since it is a pudding shop, they sell quite a variety of puddings.
In addition to pudding, there are other related products, such as: Does eating this “Love Noodles” make people feel like falling in love? Or does it give a fresh and elegant feeling like being in love?
Many products related to the Sentokun…
To be honest, I usually don’t have much of a favorable impression of these types of products that are not focused on ingredients…
Because they are simply selling an image, promoting themselves…
However, this Daibutsu-Purin… seems to have a slightly different requirement.
The waiter needs to bring it out for us to take photos~
Silky Pudding with Caramel Cream Flavor
Yamatocha, it seems to be different from matcha, Nara tea…
It is usually made with caramel, but this one is made with red beans.
The red one on the right is sakura pudding…
Forget it, I ended up choosing this caramel-flavored custard pudding for ¥350.
When the spoon scoops it up, it feels a bit firm… It reminds me of a famous pudding in Tainan.
So when you scoop it up, you can also fix its shape~
I personally prefer to thoroughly mix the caramel and pudding at the bottom before eating~
However, it doesn’t have caramel… XD
After mixing, it seems to have a slightly yellowish substance…
It feels a bit like the peel of citrus fruits~
I think the taste is still acceptable, not unpleasant…
Above is my impression of the Daibutsu-Purin.
After researching for a long time, I still don’t know what that orange peel-like thing is…
Comment:
This pudding claims to be stunning, but that’s deceiving. It’s supposed to be delicious, but it’s just okay.
Fortunately, this pudding isn’t overly sweet, so it’s worth a try for those who want something sweet but are afraid of it being too sweet.
There are quite a few branches in Nara at the moment, but I recommend buying it near the Kintetsu Nara area.
The second branch I visited was called “Naramachi Ezu-ya Store”.
