Japanese Instant Noodles – Sugakiya – Nagoya Specialty – Miso Udon

Sugakiya is a local food company based in Nagoya. Besides instant noodles, they also produce some frozen foods and seasonings. They offer a wide variety of instant noodles, primarily targeting the Chubu and Hokuriku regions in Japan, so it’s likely unfamiliar to Taiwanese people; I also only learned about it after making a purchase. This time, I bought their Nagoya specialty flavor – Miso Udon noodles, as Nagoya is quite famous for its miso. Therefore, launching a miso udon instant noodle product makes sense. However, I didn’t add any toppings, so it visually lacked a bit!

This package costs about ¥116 (including tax).

Upon opening, it looks like this:
Thick noodles, a miso powder sachet, and shichimi (seven-flavor chili pepper) powder.

The noodles are quite thick, which is the type I like.

After cooking, it looks like this~

You can tell that the noodles are really thick, and they have a great chewiness.
Adding some seven spice powder will enhance the flavor even more~

As for the soup, it seems that Nagoya uses a slightly heavier miso flavor.
So the taste is quite rich. Compared to Taiwan’s miso, it is very different. People who don’t like strong flavors might not be able to accept this.

Above is a very ordinary instant noodle article~
Because nothing has been added, it only has the simplest flavor~

Finally, personally, I think: ★★ (2)
At first, this was quite delicious, but since I bought 5 packs, the enjoyment decreased with each time I ate it.
The last time was even worse, as I happened to have food poisoning or something. I had a high fever, felt weak, and had chills all over my body. So, I decided to cook a pack and eat it, but it turned out that not eating it would have been better.
After eating it, I started vomiting uncontrollably. I felt like I was about to die XD.
So, my liking for this noodles decreased a lot. Even now, I don’t want to recall that painful experience of hugging the toilet in the middle of the night.

Rating Criteria:
Five stars: Super delicious; after eating, you’ll want to find a place in Taiwan that sells it!
Four stars: Delicious; if you have the chance to go to Japan, you’ll want to buy it again.
Three stars: Not bad; it’s good to have tried it.
Two stars: Average; just wanted to taste the flavor, you can buy it.
One star: Won’t fall for it again (potential disappointment).
