One day in October, I stumbled upon a video about the Spicy God on Facebook. The sight of a roast duck being set ablaze after being doused in alcohol was truly shocking to me. So, at the end of the month, I decided to go check it out for myself!
We arrived around 9:30, and it wasn’t too difficult to find a parking spot nearby (you can also choose to take the metro). The restaurant is located on the second floor, accessible via an escalator. Upon entry, a staff member will guide you to your seat and explain the ordering process. That day, six of us dined together, sharing a not-so-large yin-yang hotpot. The soup base was a fixed combination of spicy mala and bonito.
The ordering process uses QR code scanning. You can place an order every two minutes, with a maximum of eight dishes each time. Each dish is served in a fixed portion, and you cannot choose the quantity you need.
For groups of six or more, an additional 20 yuan gets you two plates of roast meats. We ordered duck meat and a three-meat roast platter. When booking on Facebook, we proactively asked if there was a roast duck show, and asked them to reserve it for us. So, we initially thought we could enjoy a flaming duck show. However, upon arrival, we were told that the show only happens before 7:00, which was a bit of a letdown. Moreover, the performance of the roast duck was just passable, and all the roast meats were served cold…
However, the steak was absolutely fantastic! It was freshly grilled, served hot with sauce, and it was delicious! We ordered it six times!
The meat and seafood ingredients are extremely fresh, and the quality is quite impressive. In particular, the fish slices received unanimous approval from six people, tasting very sweet and tender. The thick-cut beef tongue from the meat selection also garnered a lot of love, with its satisfying crunch and the full preservation of the beef’s aroma. However, if you want to enjoy the Angel Red Shrimp, you must pair it with two other types of shrimp.
For cold beverages, there are options like fruit juice, milk tea, soda, and sweetened red and green tea, among others. The only sugar-free option is sparkling water (which is quite limiting for someone like me who can’t consume sugary drinks). They also provide tea bags for brewing. As for frozen treats, they serve Frosty Elf ice cream (I’m not particularly satisfied with this kind of ice cream for the price).
Finally, I’d like to share with you all that when we were heading downstairs, it was quite late, so the escalator was no longer running. We had to hold onto the handrails and walk down. The picture above shows what it looked like after we had descended the escalator.
As for the service… there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of proactivity, such as needing to call the waiter ourselves to refill the soup and so on. Moreover, sharing one pot among six people really doesn’t give us enough time to eat. In the end, we were even rushed to leave, resulting in us leaving behind some of our desserts (does this kind of waste really make things better?). All in all, the overall dining experience this time was not very satisfactory…

This time, I visited the Central branch, which doesn’t look like a snack shop at all from the entrance.
Upon entering, you’ll find plenty of seating. The decor is bright and features a light industrial style, creating an overall comfortable atmosphere.
The side dishes section offers both refrigerated and room temperature options, all of which are self-serve.
Additionally, there is a sauce station available for self-service.
I highly recommend their Tiger Mom Chili Sauce. It has a pungent, spicy aroma that is incredibly flavorful.
Other main dishes include noodles, rice, and dumplings, among others.
Kushiro Washo Ichiba Market – Pick what you want and create your unique “Katte Don”. The market also offers incredibly cheap seafood.
Established in 1954, Hokkaido Kushiro Washo Ichiba Market is the kitchen of Kushiro residents.
It started as an open-air market and was later converted into an indoor market.
However, despite being indoors, there is no strong fishy or foul smell.
The signature dish of Washo Ichiba Market is Katte Don. You can buy your favorite ingredients from any store in the market to make a special seafood bowl.
This is similar to the Nokke Don at Aomori Furukawa Fish Market.
