【Tokushima Prefecture】Tokushima Ramen – Inotani

Tokushima Ramen, also known as one of the famous ramen in Japan. Among them, this ramen shop is called Inotani (Chinese Soba Inotani) and is a well-known ramen shop in Tokushima Prefecture. It became even more popular after they introduced a limited edition ramen at the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum in 1999! The Naruto branch that we are visiting is definitely a must-try. It even comes highly recommended by the tourism officials of Naruto City.

Due to the restaurant’s frequent full occupancy, we decided to come early, even before 12 o’clock. However, there were already a bunch of people inside.

Due to the large number of people, it is inconvenient to take photos of the interior of the restaurant. Just take a random photo of the menu.
With meat added, the big one is ¥650
With added meat, medium price is ¥600

Since the day we ordered, they also asked if we wanted to add white rice (¥150). In Tokushima, ramen is actually a side dish, and white rice is the main course. It’s a carb-loaded feast… Many people in the restaurant ordered white rice, but I don’t have the habit of eating rice and ramen together, so I didn’t add it.

This is pepper.

Here is the translated text: A large bowl of ramen (¥650) has arrived.
The pork in this one seems a bit fatty.
Besides the pork, the other toppings include bean sprouts, green onions, and a raw egg.

The soup base is made from Tonkotsu shoyu and features a layer of oil on the surface.
For a better taste, it is recommended to stir in the egg when eating.

The pork slices are not like regular meat slices that become tender when cooked.
Instead, they are more chewy and resilient.
As a result, this pork doesn’t taste as greasy when eaten.

In terms of the noodle texture, it is originally a medium-fine texture, with a taste somewhat similar to Taiwan’s oily noodles, but slightly smaller and different from the typical ramen noodles.

I think adding pepper powder to the Tokushima ramen would make it even more delicious~

Finally finished eating everything~

After finishing eating, we realized that there were already people waiting in line outside… This was when we had already left, and the second wave of people went in to eat, leaving those who were still waiting in line…

Above is a simple food diary of Tokushima ramen~

Comment:
The Tokushima Ramen is definitely one of the must-try ramen dishes when visiting Tokushima Prefecture.
Although it is different from the rich tonkotsu flavor of Kyushu or the back fat soy sauce style of Kyoto, it still has its own unique characteristics.
Plus, it’s super cheap! Truly representing Tokushima’s B-class gourmet.
Additionally, we ate at the Naruto branch, but there is also a main branch in Tokushima that you can visit!

PS: Although the ramen in Tokushima is delicious, the instant noodles are not tasty at all. I do not recommend them!
