The underground street in the Sannomiya area of Kobe (San Plaza in Japanese: さんパラザ) is home to many delicious foods. This time, I tried “Tokyo Soba Masaya,” a restaurant that caught my eye from the outside. It seemed like a good place to eat.

After careful consideration, I chose this Duck Hot Pot + Fried Pork Chop.

However, I also ordered an extra serving of udon noodles in the duck hot pot.

Duck Hot Pot (¥1100, noodles upsized ¥200) is quite delicious in my opinion, but it’s a bit salty compared to Nakau’s duck noodle soup.
Of course, the flavors are different~
This broth not only has the aroma of duck oil, but also the sweetness of the duck meat…
After finishing a large portion of duck hot pot, I really feel quite full.

I can only say that compared to the popular and chewy Sanuki udon noodles, this udon noodles lacks a bit of bite and texture.

In addition, this fried pork chop is a bit disappointing.
It costs ¥400, but it doesn’t taste as good as I imagined.
It’s quite similar to the cheap ¥100 pork chops commonly found in Taiwanese bento shops.
In other words, it’s like the inexpensive pork cutlets you can find in Japanese convenience stores like FamilyMart.

Above is the duck hot pot udon that I had at San Plaza in Kobe.

Comment:
When the weather is cold, it’s really nice to have a bowl of duck hot pot.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit salty and there’s not enough duck meat.
However, the aroma of the duck meat is rarely seen in Japanese noodles.
If you have the chance, you should give it a try.
Rating Criteria:

Four stars: Delicious; after eating, you’ll feel satisfied, but it won’t leave a lasting impression.
Three stars: Not bad; if you happen to be nearby, it’s worth a try.
Two stars: Average; if you want to play it safe, you can give it a go.
One star: Not my cup of tea; potential disappointment.
